Shortbread Brownie Bites
Brownie lovers will love this twist! Chewy chocolaty brownies get baked on top of shortbread cookie crust in this delicious dessert recipe for Shortbread Brownie Bites. There's no reason to only have one. Indulge and have two, or three, or four.
Ingredients
- Ingredients for the Crust:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- For the Brownies:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/3 cup dark cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 11x7-inch baking dish.

In a mixing bowl, cut the butter into the flour and sugar until it looks like coarse crumbs. Press into the prepared pan and bake for 15 minutes. Set aside.

Melt the butter and pour it into a large mixing bowl. Add the chocolate chips and stir with a whisk until they begin to melt.

Add the sugar and whisk until combined. Add the vanilla and whisk in the eggs, one at a time. Stir in the dry ingredients.

Pour the batter into your prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes. Cool completely on a cooling rack. When cool, cut into small squares.

Can I use a whole wheat flour in this recipe, or is it something I have to use a regular white flour for? I love that you used the dark chocolate in this recipe because that is my favorite chocolate. I love brownies and shortbread, so this is going to be an interesting mix to try. I can't wait til this weekend when I have the time to make this dessert.
