Banana Cake Tips and Tricks
Banana cake is such a great old fashioned dessert. Whether you are making our easy banana dump cake or whipping up an elegant cake from scratch, we think you'll enjoy these tips and tricks!
What's the difference between banana cake and banana bread?
Banana cake has a lighter, springier texture than banana bread. As the name suggests, the texture of banana cake is closer to a cake than to a quick bread. Banana bread is denser than banana cake, and it's easier to cut into bread-like slices. It holds together better and is often less sweet.
If this doesn't seem like a big difference, then you are correct! Banana bread and banana cake are very similar. Apart from texture, the only other significant difference is in how they are baked and served. Banana cake is usually baked in a cake pan and topped with frosting. Banana bread is usually baked in a loaf pan and served without frosting.
Although, we certainly won't tell if you want to slather a layer of cream cheese frosting on top of a slice of banana bread. It sounds like a genius idea, actually.
How do you make cream cheese frosting?
This banana bread mix cake is delicious without frosting, but we certainly don't see anything wrong with adding some! We have a fantastic recipe for cream cheese frosting right here on RecipeLion. Check it out here!

My elderly mother loves banana bread. This is such an easy recipe that I can make up for a treat for her. I'd be tempted to chop up some maraschino cherries to put into it too, would you? There's a question on the recipe page about what size banana bread mix package to use. The recipe calls for a small casserole dish so I'm thinking it is the small Jiffy mix package. Have any of you tried this yet?

I love things like dump cakes recipes that are super simple to put together. I also enjoy more complicated recipes, but sometimes simpler is more preferable. This sounds like a quick and easy way of satisfying a craving for homemade banana bread. If I made this in the late afternoon, I seriously doubt (knowing my wife and myself) that this would last beyond midnight.

I'm not familiar with dump cake but it sure looks delicious, especially since I like eating cake with milk anyway. I've made banana bread from scratch before using a vegan recipe. It's pretty simple no eggs, just butter, raisins, flour, very ripe bananas plus a little cinnamon, sugar and baking powder. Just in case the mix isn't available, it's not too difficult to make your own banana bread.

This is an easy recipe for dump cake. I've seen lots of apple dump cakes, but never one with bananas. This will be a good dessert for a small family gathering. I buy bananas every week, so I just need to pick up the quick bread mix.
