Treats that are easy on the wallet are always a good idea! I think it is also innovative when you look at cakes like these where improvisations have been made due to lack of ingredients. Im going to try it but have no vinegar. When I read the comments on Aleas blog she does say that you can use apple cider vinegar but it may alter the flavor. I will still try that as I have some.
