In Africa we are not exposed to Amish cooking at all and I have been intrigued by the Amish recipes on this website so decided to try this one. We really enjoyed this really nice, very hearty meal using ingredients that we all have in the pantry which is a lovely change from all the flavorings and sauces that we have all become so used to using.

Such a simple recipe! It was a bit oily/greasy, but not too much. I would definitely add more cheese, though, because this recipe is severely lacking. The way it is currently, you can barely taste it. But I'd eat this again for sure.

The addition of more cheese and more mushrooms, plus a little bit of heat (hot sauce?) would amp up the flavor of this casserole a little bit, but I love the simplicity and heartiness of it just as it is. Homemade noodles would really knock it out of the park - but store-bought noodles definitely work well.

This is a great throw-together meal that you can change up depending on ingredients in the house. I will be making this again.
