Cooking MethodSlow Cooker
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup millet, uncooked
- 1/4 cup barley, uncooked
- 1/3 cup brown rice, uncooked
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1 cup chopped green pepper
- 1/2 cup finely chopped carrots
- 16oz can kidney beans or other beans, rinsed and drained (10 oz)
- 8 ounces can tomato sauce
- 16oz can tomatoes, chopped and drained, reserving liquid
- 1 1/2 cup canned or frozen corn, drained
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp basil
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- salt
- pepper
Instructions
Combine all ingredients in a slow cooker. Add water to reserved tomato liquid to equal 2 1/2 cups. Stir into grain mixture. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours. Stir before serving. Serves 8 as a side dish or 6 as a main course.
