My husband asked me today why we never have beef stroganoff. My response was to make a face because I do not care for it. This looks good, though, and easy to make with the crockpot. I think I will give this a try. What kind of beef do you suppose I should use?

We too call this no peek casserole and it was one of the first crockpot recipes I made back in the 70's I also add the red wine per original recipe. This is always a favorite .

We call this no peek cassarole and use beef stew or round steak. We also add a 1/2 cup of red wine or beef broth. It is easy and filling. We serve over rice

I would think that yes, you can use ground beef. I'd use 2 lbs, and cook this on the stovetop instead of the slow cooker. :)

lovesbischones, I just found a strogonoff recipe that calls for ground beef, using 1 lb., again cooking on the stovetop.
