We eat broccoli year round but I have never try to make a broccoli salad. I am going to try this salad this summer. It will be a change from streamed broccoli.

I don't have an Aunt Marilyn, so I'm adopting this one. Would love to sit with her and see what other great recipes she has. This Broccoli Salad recipe is absolutely divine. I love having it for lunch on it's own. The recipe is great as written, or use it as a foundation and change it up to suit your your taste.

The first time I had broccoli salad, I wasn't sure how I would like it. Somehow all the flavors complement each other. I have never used cheddar cheese in mine though. I also cut down on the sugar. I only use 2 tablespoons sugar and it is sweet enough. Even for my husband, who is a sugar junkie. Regular raisins still taste great if you don't have golden. Turkey bacon does not work well in this.

We have a Marilyn in our family, so I shared this recipe with her. She was very impressed and loved how so many unique flavors come together like the cheddar cheese, bacon, raisins, sunflower seeds, and of course, the broccoli. The dressing is pretty strong so you may want to half it for flavor (saves some calories, too)!
