I tried this and really liked it. My wife is also rather a macaroni and cheese fanatic, and she enjoyed it a lot as well. I did make one change since I didn't have any chopped walnuts on hand, so I used my fallback of sprinkling breadcrumbs on top to give it a little bit of a crunch. It's nice and cheesy and the addition of the wine really makes it special.
