Classic Patty Melt
"When I was a kid the patty melt was a standard at the local dinner. I remember the smell of the onions and beef searing on the grill was mouthwatering good. This recipe recreated that memory and puts it into a super high bracket. You are going to love every ounce of this sandwich. You can prepare it with or without onions and I encourage you not to add any condiments until you have the pleasure of savoring it just as it is!"

My husband had a really good Patty Melt when he was younger at a local favorite family restaurant. Ever since then, it is all he ever orders when we go out to eat! If they don't have it on the menu, he will ask the cook to make him one. I always tease him for not being adventurous and trying new things, but he says once you have the best there's no reason to keep searching!

Yum! This is one of my favorite burgers. Steak n' Shake makes a rather decent one, but this version kicks it up quite a number of notches. I love the use of four different cheeses and the grilled onions. About the only thing I could think of adding would be some bacon. I agree that condiments on this are rather unnecessary, though I could see adding a dollop of mustard to it.
