Homemade Caramel Apple Sauce

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 pound apples
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 lime, juiced
- 1 teaspoon lime zest
Instructions

Core and slice each apple to 8 pieces. Mix them with lime juice and set aside.

Take shallow frying pan or saucepan and add sugar and 2 tablespoons water.

Start heating it on medium heat. At this point and on don’t mix it just swirl around.

When the sugar is melted and starts to get amber color add butter and cinnamon.

Then add apples and lower the heat. Let them cook for 5 minutes or until fork tender.

f you see that caramel becomes too hard, add couple of tablespoons of water or until you reach desired viscosity.

Serve as it is or on top of ice cream or as a pie filling.
