Sweet and Sour Cabbage with Bacon
Sweet and Sour Cabbage with Bacon is full of finger-licking flavors. The combination of tangy cider vinegar, salty soy sauce, sweet onions, and smokey bacon makes this German side dish absolutely addictive. It's so good, you'll want to eat it as the main meal. There is something about adding bacon to recipes that sends the dish over the top. Between the crispy tenderness of the sauteed cabbage and the crunchy bacon bits, this easy side dish is a delicious match made in heaven. Try it stuffed in a bun with a grilled bratwurst and you won't be able to eat plain cabbage ever again.

I'm not German so I can't speak for that aspect of this Sweet and Sour Cabbage with Bacon recipe, but I can say that I love cabbage and this recipe is the answer to a cabbage lovers prayer. I took the suggestion of the author and had it stuffed in a bun with a grilled bratwurst and it was absolutely divine.

Yes, this sweet and sour cabbage with bacon dish from Spicy Southern Kitchen sounds like a very German-inspired dish. It's something I'd really love over some bratwurst and fried potatoes. I'd be in German heaven for sure. Now, the addition of the soy sauce is interesting. A bit of an Oriental touch ... but that's so similar to the German Maggi that I add to so many of my German dishes, that I think I'll give it a try. Cabbage and bacon. Not much that can go wrong with that as a combination!
