Notes
When substituting BBQ sauce for ketchup, you may want to add BBQ sauce to taste. Some are stronger than others and will take away from the beans.

Ingredients
- 1 package all beef hot dogs or sausage of choice
- 1/2 cup ketchup or favorite BBQ sauce
- 1/2 small onion chopped
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 16 ounces can pork and beans
- 1 cup kidney beans
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Mix beans, sugar, sauce, sausage and onions in a baking dish.
- Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 to 60 minutes. Depends on your oven accuracy.

This is roughly how my mom made beans and weinies. She never used the kidney beans, just the pork and beans. She used ketchup. The hot dogs were cut up. It's pretty good. When I think of baked beans, I think of these, not the ones in a can and labeled baked beans.

My boyfriend and I made this last night for dinner. We used a whole onion and barbeque sauce with the dark red kidney beans. We did use a whole beef sausage cut into 8 pieces. Overall, it was pretty good. It was a bit sweeter than I would have preferred, and I do think baking it a bit longer would have made the onion a bit softer and tastier.
