Festive Fruitcake
Instead of the usual groans you hear when you mention fruitcake, you'll hear YUMS from everyone who tries this delicious Festive Fruitcake Recipe. A little help (OK, a LOT of help) from Betty Crocker makes it easy and tasty - always a great combination!

Ingredients
- 1 package Betty Crocker date bar mix
- 2/3 cup hot water
- 3 eggs
- 1/4 cup flour
- 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 tablespoons light molasses
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 cup red/green candied cherries
Instructions
- Heat oven to 325F degrees.
- Grease and flour a 9" x 5 "x 3" loaf pan.
- Combine date bar mix and water until crumbly.
- Add eggs, flour, baking powder, molasses and spices.
- Fold in nuts and cherries; pour into pan.
- Bake at 325F degrees for an hour and 20 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool.

Just one problem with this recipe - Betty Crocker doesn't make this date bar mix any more & lots of people are very unhappy about it too. It would be nice if they brought it back just for the holidays. What a shame!!!!! This cake was very good & everyone who tried it loved it - even people who hated fruitcake.
