Kentucky Butter Cake
"The 143 third running of the Kentucky Derby will be held today in Louisville Ky at Churchill Downs. High fashion and Derby hats go hand in hand when attending the race. The drink of choice is Mint Juleps, the food can range from Kentucky Hot Browns to Derby Pie. There will be celebrations all over Kentucky this weekend. From race tracks televising the event to backyard parties, Kentuckians love Derby Day. We’re having our own little celebration on Gilberts Creek, a very good reason to make my first Kentucky Butter Cake. This cake is moist and delicious and as you can guess laden with “butta”. The cake is made in a bundt pan. After the cake is baked and still hot, holes are poked in the cake while its still in the pan. A butter sauce is poured into the holes. The cake is left to completely cool down in the pan then flipped onto a plate. I decided to add a teaspoon of cinnamon to the butter sauce, it was a nice addition to the flavor of the cake. Kentucky Butter Cake, enjoy it all summer long. "
