Ingredients
- 3 1/2 cups all purpose flour, sifted
- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup butter or margarine
- 1 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 1 tablespoon milk
Instructions
- Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
- Cream butter; add sugar gradually and cream until light and fluffy. Add extract. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Alternately add flour mixture and milk, beating until blended after each addition.
- Wrap dough in foil or plastic wrap and chill several hours or overnight.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
- Roll out part of the dough at a time about 1/8 inch thick on a lightly floured board. Cut with floured 2 1/2 inch cookie cutters.
- Sprinkle with granulated sugar and bake on ungreased baking sheets for 8 to 9 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
- Cool on racks.
