This is the kind of recipe I need in March. Warm, filling, and made with beer.

Since St. Patrick's Day is a Saturday this year I'm thinking of making the traditional corned beef and cabbage on that day, but backing it up with this Beef and Guinness Stew on Sunday to keep the Irish theme going all weekend. The recipe seems to be well written and easy to follow. I'm thinking of putting the finished stew into individual crock pots and placing the garlic toast crouton on top and broiling it off just before serving. I think it will work great.

There is nothing like the taste of Guinness in a stew. I would cook like this all of the time if I could. I really recommend that you try cooking a stew this way as you will not be able to forget the taste. You can put this into a pie - as is common in Ireland - as well. The English like savory pies, with pastry. I will have to post a recipe for you! Really, really good.
