I've made apple cakes before, and this is really one of the simplest recipes I've come across. The one I usually make involves using fresh apples, but I can see how the shortcut of using the apple pie filling would be tempting, especially if you need to make something rather quickly. It's not quite a true dump cake (and the original recipe doesn't refer to it that way) since you have to prepare the cake mix first, but it's still quite fast and produces a tasty dessert.

this isnt a dump cake if you have to make the cake mix.
