Ingredients
- 2 large carrots, grated or finely chopped in food processor
- 1 medium onion, grated or finely chopped in food processor
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 pounds beef for stew
- 6 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1/2 teaspoon citric acid
- 3 teaspoons sugar
- 1 liter water
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons flour
Instructions

On medium high heat in large skillet caramelize onion and carrots with oil.

Transfer them to crock pot.

Flour the meat and brown it in batches then transfer to crockpot.

Add tomato paste, citric acid, sugar, water, salt and pepper.

Cover with water and mix well until tomato paste dissolves in water.

Plug on high setting for 8 hours. Serve with sour cream and enjoy!

Why are instructions no. 4 & 5 are the same? Is there something missing to this recipe? Also, what is citric acid?
