To Make the Pecan Pie Layer

  1. Prepare pie crust by placing in a 9-inch cake pan. Using a fork, poke holes on the bottom. Bake in a 475-degree oven for 10 minutes.

  2. Reduce oven to 375°F; place cookie sheet in oven to preheat.

  3. In medium bowl, mix brown sugar, butter, corn syrup, salt and eggs with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended; stir in pecans. Pour into frozen crust.

  4. Bake on preheated cookie sheet 35 to 45 minutes or until center is set. After 15 to 20 minutes of baking, cover crust edge with strips of foil to prevent excessive browning. Cool 30 minutes; refrigerate at least 2 hours until chilled before serving. Cover and refrigerate any remaining pie.

Similar to a Cherpumple, created by Charles Phoenix. Cherpumple is short for cherry, pumpkin and apple pie, which was inspired by the Turducken. The apple pie is baked in spice cake, the pumpkin in yellow and the cherry in white I have made the Cherpumple and it is surprisingly good. It is easy to switch up the cake/pie combinations. (We like chocolate cake) The Piecaken looks interesting.

I'm going to be so overhyped on sugar, but this should've been disgusting and wasn't. Well done.

I didn't know what to expect with this pie/cake, but it was REALLY yummy! Lots of different flavors that seemingly shouldn't go together but really worked well! Now I can have cake AND pie at Thanksgiving dinner )
